They love building snowmen-over and over...

A Small Work Of Fiction

As the snowman blankly stood staring into the crispy snow, the wind whistled loudly. Unaffected by his surroundings the snowman continued to unintentionally haunt the small neighborhood children no matter how many times they continued to lop off his snow packed head. The children thought it was hilarious when they knocked the snowman’s head off, laughter heard throughout the neighborhood as they stomped through the cold day's snow.

Running back and forth pointing to the nothingness atop the snowman's body. This unusual snowman wasn’t going to give up that easy, it was a blustery winter day after all. What would winter be without a snowman standing proudly in your yard? Nothing more than a bunch of frigid snowflakes laying a blanket of white stuff for everyone to make crunchy noises over. Every yard need a snowman, a snowman with a head.

Nope this was going to be different if not just for this day.The one thing the poor snowman didn't understand was why somebody would build a perfectly beautiful snowman just to knock it’s head clear off. This snowman couldn't talk so there was no way to ask the children why they would do such a thing. All the snowman knew was they were delighted with glee when his head went flying off in every direction. And terrified when they found his head had reappeared.

The snowman would teach them, what they didn't know was he wasn't just any old ordinary, everyday run of the mill snowman. He had the ability to put himself back together all by himself, he had the last laugh on those giggling little children. Because those laughing children had know idea how the snowman’s head reappeared after they lopped it off. His powers to rebuild himself had been handed down from his great-great grandfather The Rebuilder, The Rebuilding Snowman. The children stood staring at the snowman as an evil laugh escaped his snowy orange mouth, where a carrot poked heavily.

They looked at each other in horror, wondering how that could be. A mocking snowman that rebuilds itself, taunting the children even more with his rebuilding secret, the snowman laughed so hard he exploded into a thousand billowy snowflakes when the children squealed as they ran as far away from the white powder of evil as they could.
